Telluride Yoga Festival

Thu, 07/10/2014 - 21:15
The Telluride Yoga Festival began in 2007 with Jivamukti instructor Aubrey Hackman's vision for a yoga event that went beyond physical exercise. The festival not only provides yogis of all experience levels with an enriching practice experience and allows the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world.  Hackman, a passionate environmentalist and animal rights activist, structured the festival around the teachings of karma yoga. Each year, 25% of the net proceeds are donated to a local non-profit whose mission is to help protect and preserve the earth.  The festival includes presentations, guided meditations, community yoga classes, special events, and evening classes. Visit www.tellurideyogafestival.com for ticket information and registration.  Namaste.

4th of July Celebration

Fri, 07/04/2014 - 20:45
4th of July in Telluride is small-town Americana at its finest. We really do it up here -- running races, parade, BBQ, family games in Town Park, Air Force jet flybys, and fireworks.  The day kicks off with the Telluride Foundation's Rundola, a recreational foot race to benefit the Telluride Foundation. Participants begin at the base of the gondola in the town of Telluride and finish at the top of the ridge adjacent to the San Sophia gondola mid-station. Get your sweat on for a good cause before the rest od the day's festivities! The Fireman's Parade begins at 11 am on historic Main Street. The sidewalks are packed as locals and visitors cheer for goofy costumes, homemade floats, music, and the Air Force Academy jet fly-over. The Telluride firemen then put on their famous barbeque...

Telluride Bluegrass Festival

Thu, 06/19/2014 - 18:00
INFORMATION ON THE 41st ANNUAL BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL Performers regularly say that Telluride is, "the most beautiful place I've ever played." We agree.  The Telluride Bluegrass Festival is a weekend celebration of Americana roots music where artists are encouraged to push the limits of their genre. Collaborations between the best of the best are often the highlights of each year's festival.  This is a week of uncommon musical riches: Main stage performances in Town Park throughout the day, intimate masters workshops on the Elks Park stage on Main Street in downtown, prestigious band and songwriting contests, late-night Nightgrass concerts at every indoor venue in town, and jam sessions on sidewalks and throughout the campgrounds.  The festival often coincides with the...

Telluride Balloon Festival

Fri, 06/06/2014 - 17:15
While the Telluride Balloon Festival is one of the smaller festivals, it is arguably the most beautiful of the season. Weather permitting, over a dozen hot air balloons launch from Town Park on the east end of town and sail down the valley landing about one mile out of town. The balloons launch at sunrise (between 6:45 and 7 am) and bystanders often get to help with the launch -- and get a ride to boot! On the last night of the festival, the balloon pilots inflate their balloons along Main Street and fire up the propane for the "Glow". This is a beautiful and incredibly unique sight.  All of the events are subject to weather conditions -- The box canyon is a very tricky place to fly as we are surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. But if you are lucky enough to get a chance to...

MountainFilm Telluride

Fri, 05/23/2014 - 14:00
INFORMATION ON THE 36th ANNUAL MOUNTAINFILM FESTIVAL The Telluride Mountainfilm Festival began in 1979 as an opportunity for climbers and mountaineers to enjoy the Telluride outdoors by day and watch films about the mountains and mountain culture by night. It has evolved over the decades to enbrace a much wider and more diverse audience. The programming now stretches to the leading edges of contemporary social, cultural, and environmental issues.  An orientation towards activism has increasingly defined MountainFilm Telluride since the mid-90's, a function of both leadership as well as a growing public appetite to engage with modern challenges.  MountainFilm bills itself as America's leading independent documentary film festival. Additionally, the program includes a full-...
