On the heels of her triumphant Met performances in Eugene Onegin , soprano Anna Netrebko takes on another Tchaikovsky heroine in the first opera of this intriguing double bill, consisting of an enchanting fairy tale ( Iolanta ) followed by an erotic psychological thriller ( Duke Bluebeard’s Castle ). Netrebko stars as the beautiful blind girl who experiences love for the first time in Iolanta , while Nadja Michael is the unwitting victim of the diabolical Bluebeard, played by Mikhail Petrenko. Both operas are directed by Mariusz Trelinski, who was inspired by classic noir films of the 1940s. Iolanta also stars Piotr Beczala, and Valery Gergiev conducts both operas. The Annual Telluride Comedy Festival is held at the Sheridan Opera House over President's Day Weekend. Comedians from all over the country flock to Telluride to share their talent and collaborate on new material and shows. The Telluride Comedy Festival is a world class event with a grass roots feel. The Annual Chocolate Lovers' Fling is a fundraiser for the San Miguel Resource Center, which works to eliminate violence and sexual assault in San Miguel County. The Fling is themed each year and includes a tasting of delectable chocolate treats by local chefs, a silent auction, music, raffle, and cash prizes for the best dressed! This is always a fabulous night of dancing and fun -- all while supporting an incredibly worthy cause. Be at the Conference Center in Mountain Village on Febuary 12 from 7:30pm to 10:00pm

The magnetic tenor Vittorio Grigolo takes on the tortured poet and unwitting adventurer of the title of Offenbach’s operatic masterpiece, in the Met’s wild, kaleidoscopic production. Soprano Hibla Gerzmava faces the operatic hurdle of singing all three heroines—each an idealized embodiment of some aspect of Hoffmann’s desire. January 15-19 2015 . A NEW Telluride festival, The Telluride Fire Festival will be centered around a free public and interactive experience of fire artistry. The fire displays will occur from when darkness falls to late evening on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These displays will be held both in Mountain Village and on 'Main Street' and all stationary art intallations will be available during the day for viewing. Video of Telluride Fire Festival
Indie-rock artist Tony Furtado will be playing live at the Sheridan, showcasing his banjo, guitar and vocal skills. The show starts at 8:30pm, costing $20.00-30.00 per person. Mondays, January 5-February 23. 6-8pm Woman of all ages can celebrate femininity with a fun-filled class about this art form of dancing to empower the creative, sensual and feminine beings. Sasha Sullivan from Telluride Theature will start with the basics of history, dance moves, striptease and creating a character. Students will leave this 8-week journey with a burlesque character, full routine, set of pasties and a portrait.
