Focusing on songs collected by folklorist and field recording pioneer   Alan Lomax , this collaboratory brings together some of North America’s most distinctive and creative roots musicians to revive, recycle and re-imagine traditional music. The repertoire includes Bahamian sea chanties, African-American acappella singing from the Georgia Sea Islands, ancient Appalachian ballads, fiddle tunes and work songs collected from both well-known musicians and everyday folk: sea captains, cowhands, fishermen, prisoners and homemakers. Collaborators include Grammy-winning songwriter Tim Obrien, Bruce Molsky, Margaret Glaspy, Moira Smiley and more. March 4-8th, 2015. 4:00pm-8:00pm The Subaru Freeride Series returns to Telluride Ski Resort this March , for another event featuring big mountain freeskiing and snowboarding competition. The Subaru Freeride Series (SFS) represents the amalgamation of the Freeskiing World Tour and Masters of Snowboarding. Dedicated to athletes, quality, culture, competition, freeride history and sport progression, the Subaru Freeride Series will host four stops for skiers and snowboarders at North America's top big mountain venues in 2015 and one in South America. The world's best athletes will compete on the most respected mountains and will be showcased to a global audience via HD Live Webcast at each competition. Rail Jam

Saturday, February 21, 2015. 4:00pm-5:45pm  (with Awards Immediately After) All ages are welcome to sign up for The Rail Jam Competition.  Telski’s park crews build a temporary terrain park at the base of Lift 4 in Mountain Village. Skiers and boarders hit rails, throw flips, cross their skis and grab their boards to see who has the best moves and style. Music will be available from DJ Soul Atomic. Prizes are available for 1st and 2nd place. A Tour of Italy

Thursday- February 19 (Tuscany), Thursday- March 12th (Sicily) 6:00pm-8:00pm Explore Italian wines from north to south and their characteristic qualities through a series of three intimate wine tastings with sommelier Bryan Thames. Guests will become familiar with wines from Piedmont, Tuscany and Sicily. The Piedmont region of northern Italy is home to some of the country’s biggest flavored and most famous wines and you will have the oportunity to get to know these wines. While some edibles will be served with each wine, it will not be a substantial amount. It is suggested that participants eat a meal either before or after the wine tasting. Iolanta - Duke Bluebeard's Castle

On the heels of her triumphant Met performances in  Eugene Onegin , soprano Anna Netrebko takes on another Tchaikovsky heroine in the first opera of this intriguing double bill, consisting of an enchanting fairy tale ( Iolanta ) followed by an erotic psychological thriller ( Duke Bluebeard’s Castle ). Netrebko stars as the beautiful blind girl who experiences love for the first time in  Iolanta , while Nadja Michael is the unwitting victim of the diabolical Bluebeard, played by Mikhail Petrenko. Both operas are directed by Mariusz Trelinski, who was inspired by classic noir films of the 1940s.  Iolanta  also stars Piotr Beczala, and Valery Gergiev conducts both operas. Chocolate Lovers' Fling

10th Mountain Division
