February 28, 2015. Doors @ 7pm show @ 8pm The Telluride AIDS Benefit grew out of an idea in 1994 to raise money for the Western Colorado AIDS Project. Today, the Gala Fashion Show has matured into a full-scale, professional production. The choreography, music, makeup, sets, hours of rehearsals, and exquisite garments make for a unparalleled runway extravaganze. Merchandise donations from houses such as Catharine Malandrino, Autumn Teneyl, Elie Tahari, Kenneth Cole, and Dolce & Gabbana have graced the runways in past years. Since 1994, Telluride AIDS Benefit has donated over $1,800,000 towards HIV/AIDS education, advocacy, clinical care, and NGOs. Locals and visitors alike look forward to this annual event as a night devoted to creativity, education, and community building....

We all have those favorite, not-so-healthy dishes that we simply can’t resist when the cravings hit. This class will equip you with an arsenal of alternative ingredient choices and cooking methods for re-vamping those sinful recipes in a flavorful and satisfying way. Learn how to use more healthful baking techniques, swap out certain fats for healthier ones and, most of all, how to successfully revamp a recipe (or when not to even try). Mondays, Feb 23-March 30, 2015. 5:30-8:30pm Develop and grow your drawing skills over six weeks. This six-week intensive enables beginning- and intermediate-level artists to experiment with still life and self portraiture while advancing their fundamental technical skills. Using primarily charcoal, conte and paper, students will begin with still life and evolve toward making self portraits using mirrors. All students will apply the principles of value, basic composition and proportion using geometric forms and more complicated shapes (including cast heads and torsos), leading into to self portraiture. Throughout the class, students will be encouraged to explore and develop their own authentic voice. $200 tuition + $50 materials

Connecting writing and visual art can activate what William Burroughs called “The Third Mind”— from the confluence of the two art forms, something new, or other, emerges. What might happen? In this four-day long intensive, Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and Brucie Holler will guide and encourage women participants in their quest to create something “new,” perhaps as much third body and third spirit as third mind.
