Camping at Alta Lakes

Just a couple miles from Telluride sits one of the prettiest and easiest spots to camp in the region. Alta Lakes is the perfect place to set up camp, fish, and take in the views!

Last night, we got a group together and went camping up at Alta Lakes. If you have ever skied the Prospect Bowl area here in Telluride and looked South past Palmyra Peak, you have probably 'ooh-ed and aah-ed' over the vast terrain where Alta Lakes sits. In the summer, this area is prime time camping with amazing views, great fly fishing, peace & quiet, and a star show that rivals any I've ever seen. The Alta Lakes pull off is just a couple miles outside Telluride, just before you get to Ophir. Check out pictures from the trip:
