"Telluride Blues and Brews"

3 of 5

Well it was in an ideal location for walking to all of the music venues it had no parking and we had to park 5 blocks away from the unit. Also there was really no breakfast to speak of, a hard boiled egg and a yogurt. Also in the middle of the night the carbon dioxide monitor went to chirping and when I called there was no response and I had to remove the batteries to get some sleep

Manager Response:

Thank you for your review of Manitou Lodge #1. It is the ideal location for the summer music festivals in town park. During the bigger festivals, parking can be an issue anyplace you stay in town. Manitou Lodge guests are provided with on street parking permits. As of the breakfast, as of December 2015, we have returned to our hosted breakfast that includes cereal, bagels, juice, yogurt and hard boiled eggs.

"Not for older people"

3 of 5

For someone who is low on energy and easily confused( ie: older first time visitors) this place was far from ideal. Not enough information given initially about where to go to check in was a big inconvenience, parking was absolututly atrocious.
-rondaw887 on 08/29/2014

Manager Response:

Thank you for your comments on your recent stay at the Manitou Lodge. When booking through one of our travel partners, the arrival directions can be confusing. Guest check in at our Main Street location at 324 W Colorado Ave, which is on the way to the lodge. From there an on street parking pass is issued and guest can park directly across the bridge from the condo.

"Cozy room set in a great location."

4 of 5

Our stay here was really nice. The community kitchen provided fresh coffee and a breakfast selection every morning. For those who want to cook a meal, all tools are provided for stovetop and oven meals. You are sharing this space with others so you may have to wait your turn. We did not cook so it was never an issue for us. The manager was quick to respond to our request for a humidifier. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. They have an old wooden hot tub that sits in a closed room with an open roof. It was nice after a day of skiing. As for location, it was great! Our car never left the parking spot after we unloaded the first day. The gondola is a block away and main street is a two minute walk. I definitely recommend this inn.

"Close to lift, gondola and town"

4 of 5

I statyed here about 5 years ago, hence my return. It's not luxurious but well appointed. Now included are robes which are nice for a trip to the hot tub. The kitchen across the hall is a nice touch along with continental breakfast. We made breakfast two of our 4 mornings. Room 1 had a memory foam bed. The building is aging and the bathroom updates are falling apart. The glass shelf above the sink has such a slant on it, you can't place something on it and have it stay. The towel bar was loose too.It would be nice if the garbage was taken out during one's stay and towels were refreshed but again, for the price, what can one expect.Overall it is a good value and we would stay there again.

"Yes!"

5 of 5

I stayed at the Manitou Lodge #1 for a week this past February. For the price, it cannot be beat. The location is the best in Telluride. A 2-3 minute walk to the Gondola and a 2-3 minute walk to the center of downtown, yet still secluded with a rustic feel. The Manitou is nothing fancy, but matches the feel of Telluride perfectly. The room was just as advertised. Big enough. Clean. Breakfast was fine. I would definitely recommend the Manitou, and I plan on staying here on return trips to Telluride.

"Needs to upgrade Breakfast"

3 of 5

The breakfast at the Manitou has gone down hill. They used to have boiled eggs and yoghurt, but now there is no protein available. They have only bagels, English muffins, toast, cereals, oatmeal, OJ, Coffee. Please upgrade the breakfast, everything else about the Manitou is great.
-Charlie on 02/12/2014

Manager Response:

Charlie,
Thank you for your suggestion on our continental breakfast. We have gone back to serving eggs and yogurt again.
Come back and see us soon!

"Love this place by the River"

4 of 5

I love the small mountain town of Telluride and usually visit in the summer but this was my first late fall with snow trip. As usual Telluride itself is my favorite little town in Colorado although very expensive now than it use to be. Only a few reasonable price places left in this town and I know this is one of them because I've stayed here a few times in past years and it has still kept it's quality up. I definitely recommend this place in Telluride.

"Great location"

3 of 5

The lodge was a good place to stay for one night. However, when I put up the wooden blinds the windows were so dirty that they were hard to see out of. There was a huge spider web in the corner of the window complete with a dead bug in it. Other than that, it is a decent place for the price. One other thing - my husband left his cell phone charger. The management company wanted us to send them $20 plus postage to send it back - they said they want to discourage people from leaving things. We did not do it on purpose - this did not seem very customer friendly.Pedro at the lodge was great.

Regarding the shipping fee, we spend many hours each week looking for lost items, packaging them , and taking them to the post office.
We cannot do that for free.

"Lovely central location by river"

4 of 5

The Manitou rooms overlook the river running through Telluride and continental breakfast is available with outdoor seating on a deck next to the water. The lodge is comfortable although not luxurious, I only wish they would abandon the foam pillows for softer feather fill...the bed was firm and comfortable. The innkeeper, Heather, was terrific. She allowed us an early check in and was most helpful with minor arrangements and information for our brief stay. We would love to return for longer, I imagine this would be a very cozy after ski lodge if they repair the fireplace in the lounge area and can have fires. We stayed on the ground level floor, it might be wise to advise folks on floors 2 and 3 that the floors creak and make noise for guests underneath them. Or, advise guests if they are light sleepers to choose upstairs rooms.

"Peaceful and perfect! Manitou Lodge is #1"

5 of 5

Telluride was just a one night stop on our 8-day vacation so it was fortunate that we chose the sweetest place to stay; tucked under trees next to the river which is really a rolling mountain stream. We were in room #1 at the lodge - the first room in the door after we walked over the lovely bridge. It was so easy to get here with our bags after parking at the end of Fir Street. And the Gondola is about a two minute walk! The room, while compact, was perfect! Great Mission oak furnishings, the most comfortable bed, solid wi-fi service, large TV, refrigerator tucked into the cabinet and great bathroom with Tarocco orange extract toiletries (I've got to buy some of this stuff!) This room doesn't have its own private deck or balcony but it has great, large windows that open up like french doors. Loved the sound of the water right outside our window! Checked out the kitchen, deck and hot tub - would've been great if we'd had more time to use them. There was coffee on in the kitchen and a great sofa to sit for a moment to enjoy it. We did help ourselves to the great choice of breakfast items just before we pulled out of town. I notice that, since our mid-July 2013 visit, Bruce and Heather have rearranged furniture to make a little more open space in this room. By the way, the White's couldn't have been more wonderful... Bruce responded quickly to my Facebook inquiry which I followed up by calling Heather back in mid-June. We met each of them when we got there... Bruce as we checked in at aspen Street and Heather was right there at the Manitou as we entered for our stay - lovely people and very accommodating. If we return to Telluride, we'll be sure to stay here again! Oh, PS ... we got into town at noon and our room was ready so it really was perfect for our short stay... we were able to get settled in and head out for a hike by 1 PM, thank you Bruce and Heather! Nothing but perfect and peaceful!

"Surprising Little Gem"

Tucked away behind the river, the Manitou Lodge surprises with lovingly furnished and decorated rooms. There is a lot of attention to detail and everything has a very personal charm to it.The beds are super comfy and with the soothing sound of the river running just a few feet from your window, you are guaranteed to enjoy a relaxed and restful night.Given its location, the Manitou Lodge surpassed our expectations for its price range and we would happily come back for our next stay in Telluride!

"Rest by the river"

5 of 5

For many years I have stay at the Manitou Lodge once a year. Lodge #1 feels like my dream home away from home! The temperapedic mattress on the huge bed is a vast cloud of comfort. At night I leave the upper window open so I can hear the river rushing by outside. The hosts, Heather and Bruce are so helpful and welcoming! And each morning I awaken to the smell of fresh brewed coffee! Sigh!

It's truly guests like you who have blessed the Manitou Lodge in keeping a pleasant feel about the place and make it a place that feels like home. "Very comfortable, great location!"

5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Manitou. The location is perfect - 2 blocks to the gondola, easy access to great food, across a small creek so it feels set apart from the town. The hot tub was fantastic. The host was very kind and welcoming! We arrived after hours and check-in was still easy. We stayed in room 1, which was very comfortable, but because the lodge is right on the frequently-used walking path, we had a lot of noise of dog walkers and saw a lot of strangers right outside our room! We would definitely stay there again, but next time we'll try to stay in one of the upstairs rooms. But overall, wonderful!!
-A_A on 04/03/2013

Manager Response:

Thanks for your time to review your experience at Manitou. It is true: Room 1 is by the River Trail and also right inside the front door, so it is more exposed to sound and movement. All the the other rooms are more removed from those 2 elements. So,staying upstairs would truly be the answer for you. We hope to see you again and just call us to reserve the perfect Manitou Lodge room for your needs.

The room was even better than the picture. The location was perfect and only 1 min or so from the gondola and ski lift. The hot tub was nice and extremely hot! Overall, loved the place and look forward to staying there again. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the tempurpedic mattress.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Manitou Lodge. The room was very comfortable. Since the lodge is located across the river from the main part of town, it was very quiet. A great location! Our stay was very nice although I thought that the breakfast could have been more extensive; more hot dishes. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There was no room cleaning unless you stay for more that five days. Perhaps the bath linen could be changed out every other day.

"find some where else to stay"

2 of 5

if you are looking for just a bed in telluride - this will work. The toilet leaked the whole time - filling the trash can - we called and left a message with the manager on duty but never heard from anyone. It was sold as a B&B; - yes, there was a bed but I don't count another guest's leftover pizza as breakfast (which was the only thing in the fridge). There wasn't even milk or creamer for the instant coffee. The 10:00 am checkout was a bit early (especially given that it is off season) but the housekeeper wanted to be sure we were awake as they were vacuuming against our door at 9:30. There are plenty of better places to stay in telluride - do yourself a favor and find another bed.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 11/09/2011

Manager Response:

We are very sorry you found your stay so unacceptable. We did not receive a call about the toilet in your room, nor did we receive a call from the main office, so we are not sure who you contacted. Concerning the refrigerator in the common kitchen, we use that during breakfast hours which are 7 am to 10 am. When we put away breakfast, we put the items in the locked storeroom for the next day breakfast, so any food left is from other guests and this is cleaned out twice a week. After breakfast we always leave a fresh airpot of coffee for guests during the day. The date you stated of your stay was no exception.
Telluride Alpine Lodging has many fine accommodations in town and Mountain Village. Perhaps you may contact them for future stays in Telluride.

I am amazed at how much can be built into a small structure. My room, one of several, had a King size bed! Memory foam to boot! Just like home. I slept great! The common facilities were nice, clean and comfortable. The hot tub cover was not easy to remove and replace by myself, and I'm a big strong guy, but the water was clean and hot. The location in Telluride is very good. A short walk to just about everywhere there.

"cozy cabin feel in down town Telluride"

4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in a cozy cabin with excellent matress on the bed. We opened the window and could hear the babbling creek from the room. We used the kitchen to make tea and cooked our eggs for breakfast and enjoyed them outside on the patio. The location is ideal everything you want is just a few blocks walking distance away

I am glad you took advantage of the Manitou's full kitchen. We were comfortable here; #1 in the Manitou B&B.; It was comfortable, but the room was tight. The location was ideal; close to town, the park, and the gondola. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds outside the window. The least enjoyable part of the unit was the shower; it was very tight. My husband is big and he had a hard time (6'6" & 260 lbs.).

"Convenient, but somewhat Noisy"

3 of 5

I liked the Manitou Lodge because of its convenience to all areas of the town... it was easy to walk to dining places and bars - and to the gondola...however, it was very loud late at night, when other patrons were coming in to the lodge. We were in Room 1 - which is the first room next to the main entrance...so that is understandable, but this was our 2nd stay at the Manitou and I have to admit, we were awakened in the middle of the night by other guests in the hallway, making their way to their rooms. It's a very convenient place to stay, but be ready to hear noise at night.
-Pam on 03/18/2010

Pros:Small and simple accomodation, large rooms, wonderful memory foam beds (best sleep i ever got on a vacation), 1 block from gondola, close to restaurants/shops.Cons:We stayed in room 3 for 2 nights, and the carpet/beds has a LOT of static. The only other thing might be the breakfast, it's a continental breakfast and my son is very picky when it comes to food. Waffle maker would be a great addition. I guess eggs would require a person to be in the kitchen. Other than that, bagels, juice, jam, etc was always there.

"Comfortable, Cozy, Clean Place to Stay"

4 of 5

We stayed in Room #1. Nice, cozy, clean room just perfect for a ski vacation for two. Breakfast was low key but had everthing you could want. Conveniently located near ski lift and Telluride. Bed was comfortable and telivsion had cable and DVD player....that is a nice feature as well. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others. Because the room was next to the main entrance it was a bit noisy. The door had a gap across the top that should be filled to help reduce noise and one slat in the blinds was broken off leaving it possible for someone to look into the room from the outside. All in all I'd stay here again.

"Great stay at Manitou B&B"

I really enjoyed my stay at the Manitou. Pluses include the downtown location, the price reduction for offseason, and the room itself. Jan, the woman who came every morning to set up the breakfast spread, was very helpful in answering my questions and interacted very well with the other guests.A side note, peculiar to my own room, was that the room was only yards away from the San Miguel river, the sound of the water flowing by was nice.Don

"Very Relaxing"

We were very content with our room. The San Juan River ran right next to our room. We kept our windows open to listen to the river running. Very relaxing!!!

"Delightful."

Delightful room, tasteful wooden furniture and decor, very comfortable bed, humming birds outside the window, very close to ski-lift and centre of town, though surprisingly quiet. Lovely open breakfast area and deck, friendly host. Well worth the money.

I am not very picky about lodging. What I do demand is nice, clean sheets and a nice bed. Both were great. Awesome to here the river from the bedroom. Breakfast was OK. Close to everything- once we parked we never started the car for several days.Only issue was checking in at the other B&B. Was kind of a pain.

"Ideal"

The creek side location with trails branching off in every direction is our favorite. The simplicity of the room is just what we wanted with so much to do outside we didn't need much on the inside. The breakfast is delicious with a cozy feel in the common room. Simply ideal!!
