"terrible"

1 of 5

we were disappointed by accommodations were not what we expected. We were very disappointed. We will never go there again. And, they promoted the place as a bed and breakfast. We found out upon arrival that MAYBE they would provide something for breakfast. So bagels and bananas is what we got. WOW. Expensive for so little.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 08/07/2014

Manager Response:

I am sorry to hear that you received some misinformation about the breakfast at the Manitou Lodge. Manitou Lodge is not a bed and breakfast, but we do offer a complimentary light breakfast to our guests which includes bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, juice and coffee during our summer and winter seasons. I am sorry that these accommodations did not meet your needs.

"Don't stay here, management has changed for the worse!"

1 of 5

This used to be my favorite place to stay in Telluride and if you've stayed here in the past you'll know what I mean.... quiet, convenient, and nice by the creek! BUT the management has changed and we had a HORRIBLE stay! Over a 6 day period our trash was not emptied EVER, breakfast was served in paper bags and ranged from tolerable to down right terrible. One day our bags had a banana, a small carton of milk, and a pat of jelly. I don't know if we were supposed to put the jelly on our banana or spoon it right onto our tongues but there was no bread! If you sleep in late you're in luck because coffee & bags were rarely ready by 8am.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 07/04/2014

Manager Response:

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at the Manitou Lodge. We have been trying an experiment this summer with the Get Movin' Breakfast. As a coffee drinker, I agree that 8am is too long to wait for some to have coffee in the morning. We will be installing individual coffeemakers in each room for early risers. It certainly sounds like you were short changed on breakfast as well. And I apologize that your breakfast was not complete. We will do our best to make sure that each guest receives a full, continental breakfast.

"Pleasant and good value experience."

Nice accommodations for the money. All staff personnel were courteous and helpful. The kitchen provisions were a helpful surprise, and useful for our stay. Would plan future lodging with same.

"Relaxing and comfortable"

5 of 5

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Manitou and stayed in two large rooms with a king bed,the # 4. The mattress was a great surprise as it was a tempurpedic and in the other room a single with a trundle. Having two full baths with convenient access to the hot tub and the dining area/lounge all on the first floor was a real plus for all of us. The rooms are cleaned every 3 days or so, which was fine, as we can make our own beds. If we needed anything the staff was responsive and very accommodating. The only recommendations I would make are to vary the continental breakfast,(we stayed 8 days), and pave the walk from the street to the bridge. All the guests were congenial and personable which only enhanced the fine experience. If stairs are an issue at 9000 feet, opt for a first floor room. Our son works in Telluride and had said this was a good place to stay, we concur.

"The Manitou is a great place to stay"

5 of 5

Service from staff for booking and answering questions was excellent. The Manitou as a whole is a wonderful lodging experience. The location can't be beat in Telluride. The morning breakfast was good, not fancy cooking, but food items that got one going in the morning. My unit was missing some closet items found in other units, e.g. bathrobe, fan, suitcase support, iron and ironing board (although I didn't need the iron etc. Staff said they'll replenish missing items, and I believe they will. All in all, a delightful stay.

"We will always return to the Manitou Lodge!"

5 of 5

Heather, Bruce and Pedro are brilliant hosts and the Lodge is incredibly comfortable. We had such a lovely time there that we extended our stay. We could not have been happier with our stay except that check-in is a little tricky as you have to go to an alternate location a few blocks away to check-in but wasn't a big deal as long as you are aware of it beforehand. We plan on returning many, many times.
-British "Invaders" on 07/18/2013

Manager Response:

We thank you for your review. Indeed, the Manitou is unstaffed except in the mornings for our breakfast service from 7-10 am and check in is 2 blocks prior to reaching the Manitou at the Aspen Street Inn which we also manage. This is coming in from the only way into town on a major highway. We are at the Aspen Street Inn in the mornings and afternoons with a break from 12-3pm to get groceries and errands and catch up on paperwork and attend company meetings. We attempt as much as possible to send prearrival emails with this pertinent information or make prearrival calls, but if we do not have that information sometimes we aren't able to reach our guests prior to their arrival.

Sincerely,

"Good value"

4 of 5

This room was a good value, plenty of room for our family and only a short walk to the gondola and many services in town. The only thing that was missing was a boot/glove dryer. I would also say that the mattress was "Extra Firm" as in rock hard, would have preferred a softer mattress.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 03/20/2013

Manager Response:

Thank you for taking the time to review the Manitou Lodge. Some guests find the tempurpedic mattresses a little too firm. Not all the rooms have them, so if you want to return we can certainly talk to you about the non-TP units available.

"Manitou Lodge"

4 of 5

We loved this place! Just happened to hit on a time when all the guests were totally social and we sort of formed an apres ski family. Our room was wonderful. Old, but full of interesting perks and very large for just my husband and me. So close to town also and the gondola, so no need really to have our car, even though we drove there from Calif. Continental breakfast was so so, but one could cook anything they wanted in the well appointed kitchen. Will definitely come back.

"Perfect lodging for Telluride"

5 of 5

What a great little lodge -- and unit #4 was perfect for us as a couple and an unrelated friend. Comfortable lounge, nice breakfast, great hosts who were so accommodating. Also great to have the parking pass. It is really ski in/ski out with the easy access to the gondola and lift, plus just a couple blocks into the heart of downtown Telluride. Perfect!

"Great!"

5 of 5

Our stay at the Manitou Lodge was great and I highly recommend it! We were very comfortable there. Our rooms were large and cozy. The bed was really comfortable. Although we had a small kitchen, we had use of the fully equipped kitchen in the main area. Each day we were provided a full breakfast. Our hosts (Bruce & Heather White) were very nice and helpful. I was there to do research and they graciously offered some extra resources that I wasn't aware of. I'd like to say we were extremely pleased with our stay!
-Sheila Covey on 12/13/2012

Manager Response:

Thank you for your time to review the Manitou. We sure enjoyed having you during a rather quiet time at the Inn. We like to call it a "peaceful" time before the big crush.

Please do come back anytime and we will be glad to accommodate you if you are doing research again.

"Comfortable Telluride"

5 of 5

I lived in telluride in the early 70's and this place takes me back. It is warm, ( which things were not always back in the 70's), beds are comfy, and the hot tub is a few steps from the rooms. Love this place will return again because it is also a great value!

"Great Location"

3 of 5

The location was within easy walking of all downtown restaurants and venues. Building was clean and right on the river. Beds were Tempurpedic but were very uncomfortable and didn't get a good nights sleep. A little noisy from people coming in late. A great place for skiers on a tight budget. Breakfast was marginal and could be eliminated we brought our own since there was a mini refrigerator that froze the milk.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 08/08/2012

Manager Response:

Thank you for the review and we will certainly look into the refrigerator that froze the milk. We are sorry you found the Tempur-Pedic uncomfortable. Not all the beds in Manitou Lodge are tempurpedic. We encourage guests to let us know if they are comfortable so we can address issues you may have at the time of your stay or move you if occupancy allows.

"A total relaxation experience in a totally spectacular mountain"

5 of 5

#4 Manitou B&B; on the San Migel River was roomy (two full baths), peaceful, and incredibly convenient to Telluride. Park your car and never get back in until you leave. Heather, Bruce, and Pedro we're all very friendly and helpful and there every morning to set up breakfast. We especially appreciated Heather arranging for us to stay an extra day in #4 and not have to be moved to another room for our extra night. We have stayed at the Manitou every year since the early 90's and will continue returning here every time we come to Telluride. The perfect peaceful setting for visiting this beautiful mountain town.

And we hope you come back anytime to enjoy the tranquility. Your pointed out one of Manitou's finest accourtrements, and the is the river flowing beside the Manitou B&B. It will bring peace to your soul to sit beside it anytime of day. You were definitely worth the minor rearrangements. Thanks so much for your review.

"Telluride is great...lodging is just OK"

2 of 5

I really enjoyed the visit to Telluride, however, I did not care for the lodging. No smoking rooms available, and no parking at the lodge. They tell you to park right across the river, however, there are 10 spots or less, depending on how the first 8 or 9 park. Then you must drive around certain blocks designated for your permit, to find a parking spot. You may end up parking 2,3,or 4 blocks from the lodge. The room was good, once we carried everything to it. Took a couple of trips from the street across the river. If I didn't smoke and didn't drive a car to Telluride, then my review would be a lot different. But I do and I did. I will not stay there again.
-A FlipKey verified reviewer on 08/29/2011

Manager Response:

I am sorry you didn't find these items suitable during your stay. Manitou is across a short, wide footbridge on the other side of the river. The diagonal parking you describe is for our Bed & Breakfast as well as other the Ice House and Manitou RIverhouse Condos and you are permitted to pull up close to the bridge to unload. It is true that if these parking spaces are full that you can park in the W permit zone on the south east side of town adjacent to the Manitou Bed & Breakfast Lodge.

Concerning smoking, it is not permitted in any establishment in Telluride. Smoking is permitted outside any establishment in Telluride.

Telluride Alpine Lodging does offer accommodations with parking that may suit you better. You may contact the Main Office at 970-728-3388 or go on www.telluride.com for this information.

"Love the location!"

4 of 5

This B&B; is right along the river and you walk over a little bridge to get to it. Along the river is a walking path directly to a great park for the kids. We were in #4 which had a separate room for the kids (2bd, 2ba). Comfy bed and very quiet location. The only thing we didn't like was having to check in at a separate location in town.
-cmooneyham on 07/20/2011

Manager Response:

Thank you for your review . We are sorry about the check in procedure. Being a small Inn we are not able to staff it full time. FYI: Telluride Alpine Lodging does have 2 Inns in Telluride
that you can check in to directly and they are Mountainside Inn and Aspen Street Inn.

"Great location and Friendly Staff"

4 of 5

The Manitou B & B is a nice quiet facility with a great location, being 2 short blocks from the gondola and 3 blocks from Colorado (main) St. The breakfasts were good and the staff very pleasant. The people in the office of TaL were very accomodating. They allowed us to print broading passes for our departing flight.Minor problem in the room was a burned out night light and a non functioning shower in one bath (but we had a second bath, so no real inconvenience).
-Bob Kunkel on 03/11/2011

Manager Response:

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. The current guest reported the broken shower handle to us so it is now fixed! We do have maintenance reports in the room folders so you may get any repairs made promptly as well as the breakfast staff you may inform of any needs each morning during the 7:00 am to 10:00 am hours. As you mentioned also, the TAL office staff are very helpful in every way.

We have no complaints. Heather and Bruce were wonderful, the location of the B&B; was perfect (not in the middle of town, but not too far from town), and the weather was great. The entire complex was clean and everything was in very good shape. We are planning to return this coming summer to see Telluride when it is not covered in snow.Thanks.

Location was perfect...my daughter actually counted 125 paces to the bottom of the gondola from the front door. Our rooms were so cozy and had the feeling of being home. The back room was perfect for our teanagers...they had there our bathroom and privacy...and we did, too! The temperpedic matress was welcome at the end of the day! The small kitchenette was nice to have for storing a few food items and letting the kids stay in for a meal while my husband and I went out for Valentines! Breakfast right next door to our room was convenient...I liked that the common area stayed open for our use thru the day and being able to grab a banana in the afternoon!

"Nice Stay"

4 of 5

We had a nice stay and the staff was very nice and accomondating. Breakfasts were a good gathering point and provided information on local activities.Tha accomondations were updated in the bathrooms and the beds were adequate. All fixtures and amenities worked. The outdoor spa needs to be completely redone. The hot tub seemed green with aged wood and was not inviting in the shedded enclosed area. It should be redone with a white plastic spa or tiled or just omitted. The bridge to the lodge is very dark at night as is the walkway around the patio (lights didn't seem to work). The rooms felt secure with button coded locks for the rooms and the front door, but somewhat cumbersome moving things in and out like luggage. All together it was a pleasant and peaceful stay. Entertainment in town is very limited to bars and restaurants. The free gondola rides over the mountain were the BEST! Nice Park.
