On the heels of her triumphant Met performances in  Eugene Onegin , soprano Anna Netrebko takes on another Tchaikovsky heroine in the first opera of this intriguing double bill, consisting of an enchanting fairy tale ( Iolanta ) followed by an erotic psychological thriller ( Duke Bluebeard’s Castle ). Netrebko stars as the beautiful blind girl who experiences love for the first time in  Iolanta , while Nadja Michael is the unwitting victim of the diabolical Bluebeard, played by Mikhail Petrenko. Both operas are directed by Mariusz Trelinski, who was inspired by classic noir films of the 1940s.  Iolanta  also stars Piotr Beczala, and Valery Gergiev conducts both operas. The Telluride TV Video Awards honors and promotes community media and content participation. Awards are typically presented to pieces that challenge conventional television formats, promote community dialogue, and encourage participation of local viewers.  The evening will take place at the Sheridan Opera House and will begin with a red carpet affair. You will enjoy films throughout the evening as well as a full awards show.  General Admission is $20 and includes admission to the event, the after party, and light appetizers during the event. A Table Reservation is $200.00, is located on the main floor, abd includes candy and popcorn. A Filmmaker's Table is $150.00 and has the same amenities as a Table Reservation. Win up to $100,000 as you watch large red medicine balls roll down the ski hill! In a nutshell, the Red Ball Express is a race of 100+ large red balls down a ski slope. The first balls down the race course determine who wins the prizes.  While the race itself takes only a few minutes, the preparation for the event takes at least 6 months.  Rotary recruits sponsors and non-profit participants, promotes the event and sells tickets.  Non-profits sell the tickets and keep 80% of the proceeds.  More information about the event can be found at www.RotaryRedBall.com and at Telluride.com 's webpage.

Bel canto superstars Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez join forces for this Rossini showcase of vocal virtuosity, set in the medieval Scottish highlands and based on a beloved novel by Sir Walter Scott. DiDonato is the “lady of the lake” of the title, and Flórez is the king who relentlessly pursues her, their vocal fireworks embellishing the romantic plot in this Met premiere production conducted by Michele Mariotti.  Saturday, March 14 at 11am Running time 3:30
