The Telluride Playwright's Festival is a six day intensive workshop for playwrights, actors, and directors to refine their craft and written work. The festival is put on by Sparky Productions, a non-profit that offers playwrights the unique experience of working in a Rocky Mountain setting. The goal is to help playwrights fulfill their vision in an intimate workshop setting beneath the San Juan Mountain peaks. Plays are chosen from a submission system; playwrights are then offered the opportunity to travel to Telluride to work with a group of actors, directors, and fellow playwrights to refine their work. Wednesday, July 22nd. 7-9PM. $45 tuition Discover the difference between "fine chocolate" created by small-scale artisans and large-scale manufactured choclolates. Through smell and taste, you can explore chocolate's different flavor profiles and what qualities make good chocolate. Particapants are invited to bring their favorite wine to enjoy while tasting. Students will become farmiliar with torch use and safety, work with various gauges of wire, and explore elemnts of design. Monday- Friday. July 27th-31st. 9-5PM. $800 tuition In this class students will explore binding structures using real stone veneer in the techniques learned from Sün Evrard. Students will create two bindings in this five day class. If time allows, students will explore uses of the stone veneer as a decorative elemnt for bindings or boxes. Students will need to purchase the veneer at AAB or bring their own. Familiarity with simple bookbinding techniques are preferred, but not necessary. Monday- Friday. July 27th-31st. 9-5PM. $650 + $50 studio fee Includes 24-hour access to the painting studio between class sessions. Students must purchase the required materials on their own. This week-long intensive will investigate making imagery, the urgency of the moment, and the experience of painting outside in the scene of Telluride. One extended, large image will be developed over the last three morning of class. Students should immerge with 7-8 pieces by the end of the week. Drawing experience is recommended. Tuesdays. July 28th- August 25th. 6:30-8:30PM. $200 tuition Throughout this five- week class, students will learn valuable skills to improve their poetry. Through encouragment and tools, students will learn how to better serve the poem and their muse. Students will also discuss how and where to send out poems for publication.
