Opera’s most enduring tragic double bill returns in an evocative new production from Sir David McVicar, who sets the action across two time periods but in the same Sicilian village. Marcelo Álvarez rises to the challenge of playing the dual tenor roles of Turiddu in  Cavalleria Rusticana  and Canio in  Pagliacci . Rae Smith ( War Horse ) has designed the moodily atmospheric 1900 village square setting of  Cavalleria , which transforms to a 1948 truck stop for the doomed vaudeville troupe of  Pagliacci . The Wild West Fest is a small festival specifically designed to share Telluride with 50 inner-city youth from Big Brother, Big Sisters of America and Boys & Girls Clubs from across the United States. During their week in Telluride, the boys and girls participate in drama, dance, horsemanship, fly-fishing, golf, and the Rock & Roll Academy.  The Wild West Fest was created by the Sheridan Arts Foundation, which raises $50,000 each year to run the program.   2015 Balloon Fest The 32st Annual Telluride Balloon Festival will be held the weekend of June 5-7.  June 6 is the most active day beginning with an early morning launch from Town Park and ending with the "glow" on Main Street in the evening.  Saturday afternoon, there will be a photography workshop geared specifically to photographing ballons.  Sunday morning the balloons are scheduled to launch again from Town Park. It is possible to take a ride on a balloon either Saturday or Sunday, but there are a limited number of slots.  Usually, the crowds are thinner on Sunday morning.  You will improve your chances by being willing to help inflate the balloon, so get there by 6am and ask to help.  Most years, at the balloons will launch at least one of the two days, but there's no...

  2015 BLUEGRASS:  June 18-21, 2015 It's a bit early to have information about the 2015 Telluride Bluegrass Festival, but it's not too early to book lodging .  Many veteran festivarians book their condos and hotel rooms a year in advance and the town of Telluride is mostly sold out six months before the festival.  General Information The 2014 is over, but check out our 2014 Bluegrass Photo Album to jog your memory.  In it we selected about 30 of our favorite photos from over 5,000 photos that our staff took. 2014 Update - There will be FIREWORKS! 4th of July in Telluride is small-town Americana at its finest. We really do it up here -- running races, parade, BBQ, family games in Town Park, airplane flybys, and fireworks.  The day kicks off with the Telluride Foundation's Rundola, a recreational foot race to benefit the Telluride Foundation. Participants begin at the base of the gondola in the town of Telluride and finish at the top of the ridge adjacent to the San Sophia gondola mid-station. The Rundola is an open registration foot race from the base of the gondola in Telluride to the top of the ridge adjacent to the San Sophia mid-station. The race is organized by and benefits the Telluride Foundation.  Runners follow the Telluride Trail (4.600 feet long, 40 feet wide, 13% uphill grade) or can simply bushwack to the finish. The elevation gain is 1,810 feet from start to finish. Participants are grouped by age and gender into categories for the race.
