Capturing Character: Costumed Figure Portraiture

Fri, 03/10/2017 - 12:00
It is important for a portrait artist to understand the structure of body and face, but it is equally important to be able to evoke the character and personality of a subject. This fun class at the Ah Haa School for the Arts uses costumed models — whether it's a ballerina, period attire, Western wear, or something else — to create vivid and interesting tableaus for the artists to paint. Students will use oil paints and will be instructed in composition, stroke, edges, and color, some previous painting experience is necessary.  The class will be held from noon until 3:30 on Friday through Sunday, March 10-12. Tuition is $275 and students will also need to purchase required materials. Painter Julee Hutchison is the instructor.
