Footloose, the Musical

The annual high school musical presented by the SAF Young People's Theater at the Sheridan Opera House.  This year's feature performance is "Footloose, the Musical," based on the film about a teen who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music have been banned. Showtimes Friday February 3rd, Saturday February 4th and Monday February 6th at 6PM.  Doors open at 5:30PM. No show Sunday February 5th Tickets $13 adults, $11 children age 18 and under.   Purchase in advance HERE , $1 more at the door.   

Leaping: How to Wildly Advance Your Writing

There is really only one way to improve your writing: by writing. Poet Laureate Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer offers a five-week course at the Ah Haa School for the Arts where students will be tasked to write a poem a day for thirty days; whether it's a late-night haiku about your cat or a sonnet in rhymed iambic pentameter, she says that what matters most is that you practice your writing. Trommer will give students a thirty-day inspiration booklet with sixty possible writing prompts, and will help guide them through the fun and creative writing process. The class takes place on Wednesday evenings and the cost is $200. Students will leave inspired and with a body of poetic work. 

Acting Out: Weekly Acting Class

Whether you want to become a better actor, or just a more confident presenter, this four-week acting workshop at the Ah Haa School for the Arts will give you the skills and the stage presence to do it. Telluride Repertory Theatre company member and actor-director Colin Sullivan will help you "act out," using a series of games, vocal work, movement exercises, script analyses, and dynamic audience exchanges to cultivate your acting ability.  The course takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6–9 p.m. and the cost is $200.

Tuesdays & Wednesdays,  January 31 – February 8   |   6-9pm    $385 tuition & materials Discover the magical, colorful world of silk dyeing and batik. Spend four evenings (with optional open studio time on the weekend) learning about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and other silk dyeing techniques, culminating in a final prayer-flags project. Dyes used during class are appropriate for silk and wool, as well as fabric blends that contain silk and wool. Finished pieces will be dry cleaned, to remove wax, and then dye set. (Please budget an additional $8 per piece for dry cleaning.) The materials fee includes seven scarves/fabric pieces, with the option of purchasing more fabric from the instructor.
